Painted Churches of Texas
- Duration: 2 Days (approx.)
- Product code: Paint Church
The Painted Churches of Texas blend art and history. Our destination is the Central Texas countryside. Built by Czech and German immigrants in the 1800s, these thriving communities prospered by working hard, helping one another, and praying together. Along the way, we will stop at Woody’s Smokehouse. It was founded in the 1970s by Didley “Woody” Wood. Here you can shop for BBQ, nuts, baked goods, cheese, gifts and more. The George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum offers insight to the Bush family and their political careers. Marine One /4141 Locomotive Pavilion is the newest exhibit and is the location for Daisy’s Cafe where we will have lunch on our own. Our sweetest stop is at Blue Bell Ice Creamery to sample ice cream at The Parlor, explore the Visitor’s Center, Observation Deck and Gift Shop. A stroll through the Antique Rose Emporium Nursery & Display Gardens is delightful and fun. Discover interesting names for the roses. For the finale, Homestead Craft Village is where the past enriches the future, and the spirit of community thrives. Visit shops with artisans hand-crafting everything from axes to pottery and fine furniture. Cafe Homestead presents a farm to table menu. The Fiber Arts, Wood Working, Pottery, a Grist Mill and Forgery craftmanship is impressive.
